Marvin Brink

Graduate Student

Overview

Marvin is a first-year PhD student at Cornell. He earned his B.A. from the University of Potsdam where he studied German literature, German linguistics, and philosophy. During that time, he began working as a student assistant for a linguistic research group, which sparked his interest in academic work in an international context. After finishing his B.A., he pursued a master’s degree in modern German literature (Neuere Deutsche Literatur) from Free University of Berlin.

In his research, Marvin explores 19th- and 20th-century literature and its reflection of shifting conceptions of the human condition since the Enlightenment. Within this context, he is particularly interested in themes such as religion, technology, and changes in literary form.
