Overview
Lea Fresmann is attending Cornell as a non-degree exchange student from Humbolt University for the academic year 2025-2026. She holds a BA in Art history and Philosophy and an MA in European Literatures. Currently, she is working on her dissertation, examining the binding quality of speech acts and their connection to both ritual practice and legitimization of rule in ancient and early modern drama, with a particular focus on dramatic genre as a model for examining how language and ritual interact to dismantle and reconstitute binding structures.
Lea’s research interests include aesthetic theory, 19th and 20th century philosophy and rhetoric in early modern drama.
