Book cover of "Tales that Touch"

Congratulations to our colleague, Leslie A. Adelson, Jacob Gould Schurman Professor of German Studies, whose work was honored at the recent German Studies Association 46th Annual Conference with a roundtable! Under the title “Tales that Touch,” a panel of eminent scholars in German literary and cultural studies discussed Professor Adelson’s extensive contributions to German Studies in the categories of both scholarship and mentorship. Professor Adelson’s influential work, which has created new critical perspectives for reading literary and cultural texts born of migration, is also honored in a recently published collection of scholarly essays and literary texts. Tales That Touch. Migration, Translation, and Temporality in Twentieth- and Twenty-First-Century German Literature and Culture (edited by Bettina Brandt and Yasemin Yildiz, published by De Gruyter) brings together an international group of authors whose articles are inspired by Professor Adelson’s innovative scholarly interventions. The volume also contains new literary texts by Yoko Tawada and Zafer Şenocak.
