Leslie Adelson, Jacob Gould Schurman Professor of German Studies, awarded "Prize of the Association for Intercultural German Studies"

Germany’s Association for Intercultural German Studies (Gesellschaft für interkulturelle Germanistik e.V.) announced in December 2020 that Professor Leslie A. Adelson of Cornell University has been awarded the Prize of the Association for Intercultural German Studies for Experienced Scholars 2019. She is one of two senior scholars to be selected from an international field to receive the association’s most recent award in this category. As President of the Gesellschaft für interkulturelle Germanistik, Professor Dr. Gesine Lenore Schiewer summarizes the professional association’s appreciation for Adelson’s scholarly achievements: “Over decades and in seminal, innovative, and compelling ways, Professor Leslie A. Adelson has contributed conceptually to intercultural analysis in Germanic literary studies. To a significant degree, she has helped ensure that scholarship on contemporary German-language literature recognizes the importance and impact of intercultural authors.” Formal plans for an award ceremony will be announced at a later date.
