Welcome to our department!

We are a community of students, teachers, and scholars devoted to the cross-disciplinary study of language, literature, and culture within a transnational framework. We strongly believe the best academic work is produced in an environment that fosters cooperation and the pleasure of discovery. Our programs include courses in German and English on subjects ranging from medieval to contemporary literature and from film and visual culture to philosophy, music, and postcolonial studies. You will also find other opportunities for learning and collaboration, including lectures, workshops, conferences, and film series that we sponsor in conjunction with other departments on a regular basis.
